Joey played like Tiger was his daddy

Is there no end to this man’s talents?

As well as being a full time British Army Officer and a valued member of our happy band of instructors, Joey could probably put many golf professionals to shame.

At the hands of his much loved father Alex, Joey learnt to play golf virtually as soon as he could walk, Alex incidentally was a professional footballer and unwittingly appeared to etch a kind hearted competitive streak into his only son.

Having won countless golf competitions as a nipper up in his homeland the North East, Joey came into his own competing for the Army over a period of twenty years. Although playing ‘off scratch’ for many years, Joey now plays off a handicap of six, he puts this down to contentment and middle age spread (he is nearly forty after all!).

Not only does Joey bear a passing resemblance to Tiger Woods, but recently played like him, ‘wiping the board’ at a military golf competition, winning ‘closest to the pin’ and ‘overall team winner’. Not bad for a biker who now only plays a few times a year.

The golfing gene obviously runs in the family, Joey’s mum, Wendy, has just won the Ladies’ title at Bishop Auckland Golf Club, not bad considering she’s nearly seventy. (She’ll kill me for publishing that!)
