Wednesday Nights are Go

Title A couple of thousand bikes; just an average summer's evening at Sherburn (HERAM)

Our club, the Hull and East Riding Advanced Motorcyclists (HERAM) have always got a bike run planned.

Club Treasurer Jason Shakesby’s Wednesday night run to Sherburn-in-Elmett took place on a beautiful, warm, sunny evening. Nine bikes in total, all riders making decent progress whilst displaying a safe/sound ride.

There must have been a couple of thousand bikes and near on 3,000 people at Sherburn. As the main car park was full to bursting we had to park in the field opposite, lumpy, bumpy and about a 15% gradient, my Aprilia was none too happy with any of this, but Kev, always prepared, pulled out one of his supply of side stand supporters and balanced it with precision. The ever resourceful Dave Hall emerged from a hedge bottom with what appeared to be a piece of the Mary-Rose, a plank of wood so long several bikes could park their side stands on it. The BMWs meantime thought they were on a busman's holiday and took it all in their stride.

After an hour or so of bike mingling and hot chocolate swigging we set off home. Nice riding by associates Brian Hendricks and Ian smith, keep up the good work guys, and of course thanks to Jason for an excellent route as usual.
